UMBC comes up big with 1.5 seconds remaining in third overtime
Sophomore midfielder Maxx Davis' unassisted goal with 1.5 seconds remaining in the third overtime period gave the host UMBC Retrievers a 9-8 win over sixth-ranked Maryland in an intrastate men's lacrosse matchup shown live on MASN and attended by a rain soaked but happy crowd at UMBC Stadium.
UMBC improved to 3-3 on the season and has won three of its last four games. The Terrapins had a two-game winning streak halted and are now 4-2.

The Retrievers had forced overtime as junior attackman Ryan Smith scored his team-high tenth goal of the season with 5.6 seconds remaining in regulation. UMBC led 7-5 after junior midfielder Kyle Wimer scored his second goal of the game with 4:11 remaining.
But the Terrapins scored off the ensuing face-off and pulled ahead, 8-7, with goals at the 2:39 and 1:50 mark. But Wimer found Smith about eight yards away from the cage, and the attackman bounced his left-handed shot past Terp netminder Jason Carter.
