MASN to Televise Under Armour Capital Classic

Live Sunday, April 14, at 5:30 p.m
.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- MASN, the local leader in live sports entertainment, will televise the 35th annual Under Armour Capital Classic from the Comcast Center on the campus of the University of Maryland. MASN will televise the featured game, between the Capital All Stars and the U.S. All Stars, live at 5:30 p.m. MASN will re-air the game at 11:00 pm.

The Classic features the top high school basketball players from around the Washington area and around the country. Head Coach Joe Wootten and the Capital All-Stars are looking for their second straight victory over the U.S. All-Stars.

For the eighth straight year, the National Championship NCAA team has featured Capital All-Star alums. This year, 22 NCAA tournament teams included a Capital Classic participant.

Since its inception in 1974, over 125 players have gone on to play in the NBA. Former Capital Classic stars include Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Dominique Wilkins, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul.

Byron Kerr, of WTOP Radio and MASN's Nats Xtra, will call play by play for MASN's game coverage. Kerr brings a wealth of basketball broadcast experience to the Capital Classic. He has been the voice of George Washington University men's basketball for the past three seasons and called George Mason University basketball for 12 seasons from 1993-2005. He was also the WNBA Washington Mystics play by play announcer for six seasons.

Chris Knoche, the color analyst for Maryland Terrapins men's basketball, will provide color commentary for MASN. A former player and head coach at American University, Knoche is in his seventh season as the color analyst for the Terp men's basketball radio broadcasts. Prior to joining Maryland's broadcast crew, Knoche worked 40-50 games each of the previous two season as a color commentator, including stints on the Ivy League Game of the Week on Westwood One/CBS Radio and Ivy League Game of the Week for DirecTV and for HDTV.
