The not so glamorous, long and winding road(trip)
2 Red Bulls into the day and keeping my eyes open through Saturday's double header was still impossible. After arriving with the team in Chicago at 7am Friday morning, sitting through 3-hours of a rain delay on Friday night only to have the game postponed, and battling through a double header in which the 2-games were separated by a 3-hour hiatus, it's safe to say; this has been a hellacious road trip.
The fact the Orioles are winning through all this adversity says a lot about the teams' character.
Sitting in the Press Box nearly 12-hours after reporting to the park earlier that morning, one can help but think: how are these players able to face Mark Buehrle and John Danks when I can't even do a live shot without stuttering?
They can because this is the big leagues and they are the best players in the world. Remember that next time we complain about big salaries---they can do what we can't, that's why they make the big bucks.
It all kind of makes you re-think the whole "glamorous life" myth. Anybody who's played in the major leagues or traveled with a team understands what a grind it is. The best part about it; no whining allowed. Tom Hanks said it best, "There's no crying in baseball."
