Highlighting MASN's unique position as the home of two MLB teams, booth will feature combined talent for May and June inter-league "Battles of the Beltway" between the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles

2008 Beltway Series begins tonight as the Nats visit the O's at 7:00pm on MASN, MASN2, & MASN HD

MASN, the television home of both the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles, will produce an unprecedented mixed talent broadcast during upcoming inter-league play between the Nationals and the Orioles. The first Battle of the Beltway of the 2008 season begins on Friday, May 16 live from Oriole Park at 7:05 pm. The second inter-league series takes place June 27, 28, 29 at Nationals Park. All six of the games will also be available on MASN's new high-definition channel, MASN HD.

Battle of the Beltway on MASN

For this weekend's series, the Washington Nationals talent team featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Don Sutton and veteran play-by-play announcer Bob Carpenter will join the Orioles booth, which includes nationally-renowned play-by-play announcer Gary Thorne and Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer. Nationals' sideline reporter Debbi Taylor will join the Orioles' Amber Theoharis throughout the game with insights and interviews from both teams.

"The Nationals are always excited about inter-league play with our Beltway rivals," said Nationals President Stan Kasten. "I believe our fans will appreciate hearing a different perspective during MASN's broadcasts of both series."

The pre and post game shows, Nats Xtra and O's Xtra will be produced separately.

Inter-league play resumes between the two teams on June 27, 28 and 29 at Nationals Park. For that series, Jim Hunter and Buck Martinez will join Don Sutton and Bob Carpenter in the Nationals booth. Martinez played and coached in the American League for 31 years and hosts the nationally-broadcast show "Baseball this Morning" on XM Radio. Again, Amber Theoharis will jointly cover sideline reporting with Debbi Taylor.

"It is fun, it is unique, and it highlights two of MASN's best features: the network's coverage of two MLB teams and our all-star caliber broadcast talent," said MASN spokesman Todd Webster. "Few fans get to have a Hall of Fame pitcher analyzing their team's ballgames. This weekend, Nats and O's fans will get two Hall of Famers."

With every available Nationals and Orioles game throughout the season, pre and post game shows before and after every game, eighty games in high definition and one of the best talent teams in all of baseball, MASN provides maximum access to both the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles.
