Orioles & MD Lottery Celebrate Milestone Attendance Marks
| | Comments (0)

The Orioles have partnered with the Maryland Lottery to celebrate two upcoming milestone attendance marks. The Orioles will welcome the 50 millionth fan in Oriole Park at Camden Yards history later this season, becoming the fastest ballpark ever to reach this milestone. Shortly thereafter, the Orioles will host the 100 millionth fan in franchise history.

Presented by the Orioles and the Maryland Lottery, the designated 50 millionth fan in Camden Yards history will be presented with $50,000, season tickets for five years, and a package of VIP amenities including seat upgrades, a commemorative jersey, and participation in an on-field check presentation. The designated 100 millionth fan in Orioles franchise history will receive $100,000, season tickets for five years, and the VIP package. The designated fans must be at least 18 years of age. In addition, all fans in attendance at the games featuring the 50 millionth and 100 millionth fans will receive a commemorative pin.

"These upcoming milestones are a testament to the power of Orioles Baseball, the incredible support from our loyal fans, and the overwhelming success of Oriole Park at Camden Yards," said Orioles Director of Communications GREG BADER. "Oriole Park changed the way in which ballparks were viewed and constructed throughout the country, and the positive economic impact it has had on the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland has been extraordinary. Fans not only from this region, but those from throughout the country and from all over the world, have made Baltimore a vacation destination, thanks in part to Camden Yards."

Since it ushered in a new era of ballpark design in 1992, Oriole Park at Camden Yards has been the standard-bearer for sports facilities in the United States, welcoming individuals from all 50 states and over 100 countries. The city of Baltimore and the entire state of Maryland have derived significant economic impact totaling in the billions of dollars from the 50 million fans who have attended Orioles games over the past 16 ½ seasons, as well as from the millions more who have participated in festivals, meetings, tours and community events that have been held at the ballpark.

"The Maryland Lottery is thrilled to be a part of these historic moments," said Lottery Director BUDDY ROOGOW. "It is an honor to help the Orioles celebrate the rich history and tradition of Major League Baseball in Maryland."

Through last week's homestand, the Orioles have drawn 49,476,355 fans to Camden Yards since the ballpark opened on April 6, 1992. Since the start of that season, Oriole Park at Camden Yards has hosted the third-most fans in baseball, trailing only Dodger Stadium and Yankee Stadium. The Orioles will reach the 50 million-attendance mark at Oriole Park in just 17 seasons, faster than any other club in any ballpark in the history of baseball.

Also through last week's homestand, the total attendance in Orioles franchise history stands at 99,321,943 fans. In 38 seasons (2,716 dates) at Memorial Stadium, the Orioles drew 49,845,588 fans, an average of 18,353 fans per game. Through last week, the Orioles have averaged 38,413 fans in 1,288 dates at Camden Yards. They have drawn 40,000 or more fans on 762 of 1,288 regular season dates at Oriole Park (59%), including seven dates so far in 2008.
