Dukes surgery set for Wednesday
Elijah Dukes is going to have surgery on Wednesday July 9th, to repair his right meniscus. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Koko Eaton in Tampa, FL.
Dukes tore up his right knee last Saturday night in Cincinnati while catching a fly ball in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Following the procedure, Dukes will rehab both the meniscus, and a partial tear of the patellar tendon in his right knee. He is expected be out for 4-8 weeks.
This is the second time this season that Dukes has been on the disabled list. He injured his right hamstring on Opening Night and was placed on the 15-day DL. He missed 34 games due to the injury.
Dukes got off to a slow start this season, but his bat began to heat up with the summer weather. In his last 30 games, Dukes was hitting .314 (38-for-121) with six doubles, two triples, six home runs and 18 RBI. He had a .403 on-base percentage and .545 slugging percentage over that span.
Kory Casto was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take Dukes' spot on the roster.
