Nationals Collect more than 2000 Toys and $19,000 During Christmas in July
|

The Washington Nationals, in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Foundation, collected over 2,000 toys and $19,000 at Nationals Park during their weekend series against the Houston Astros, Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13. This was the third time that the ballclub has partnered with the Toys For Tots Foundation with great success; as 1,900 toys and $11,000 were collected during the 2007 Christmas in July Toy Drive, and in 2006 it brought in 1,200 toys and $2,200. All money collected will be used to supplement toys for age groups with limited donations. Toys will be distributed to non-profit organizations and pediatric wards.

Volunteers from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves were located at all gates and at the Nationals Park Community Table during the weekend. Collection began when the gates opened to the public and lasted through the bottom of the fourth inning.
