Orioles to Celebrate Latino Night at the Yard July 26
The Orioles, OriolesREACH and the Oriole Advocates will team to host Latino Night and the Cardboard to Leather equipment collection at Oriole Park this Saturday, July 26. Celebrations for Latino Night include a pre-game bullpen picnic area party with appearances by Latino Orioles players prior to the 7:05 p.m. game, live Latin music performed by PATRICK ALBAN & LATINO NOCHE, and live salsa, meringue and cha-cha dance performances.
In conjunction with Latino Night, the Oriole Advocates, OriolesREACH and 3B MELVIN MORA will team to host the Oriole Advocates' annual Cardboard to Leather equipment collection, presented by Legg Mason. All fans are invited to bring new or gently used baseball equipment to Oriole Park to donate to the Cardboard to Leather program, which provides baseball equipment for youth in need in Latin America, South America and Caribbean countries, including the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Venezuela. In addition to fan contributions, Legg Mason will donate $15,000 to the Cardboard to Leather Program during a pre-game ceremony.
A silent auction featuring autographed items by current Latino Orioles players will be held through the sixth inning on the main concourse at Gate D. All fans that donate equipment will receive a special Melvin Mora autographed player postcard, while supplies last.
The Cardboard to Leather equipment collection will begin when Eutaw Street gates A and H open at 5:00 p.m. The Latino Night pre-game party in the bullpen picnic area will begin when all gates open at 5:30 p.m. The event will also feature festive concessions, ballpark décor and music and video reflecting the Latin theme.
Melvin Mora will provide game tickets to 150 youth from Lancaster Centro de Jovenes. Last year, close to 2,000 children in Nicaragua received baseball equipment thanks to the Cardboard to Leather program.
