Roy Halladay picked up his 12th win of the season, pitching seven strong innings as Toronto beat the Orioles, 7-1, Thursday afternoon in front of 23,329 at Camden Yards.

Toronto won the completion of Wednesday's suspended game earlier, 5-1; the Blue Jays picked up two wins on the day to improve to 51-51 and take this series, three wins to one. The Orioles fall to 48-53 and are five games under .500 for the first time all season.

Halladay allowed seven hits and one run and improved to 12-7 on the season and to 18-4, 2.86 in 24 career starts vs. the Orioles.

Losing pitcher Daniel Cabrera gave up seven runs and 11 hits over five innings in falling to 6-6.

The Orioles didn't get on the board until the last of the 6th. Aubrey Huff picked up a one-out single, advanced to third on Melvin Mora's base hit, then scored on a Luke Scott sac fly, making it 7-1 Jays.

Toronto scored three times in the 6th to open a 7-0 lead and knock Cabrera out of the game. Gregg Zaun's two-run single made it 6-0 and a deep sac fly by Marco Scutaro gave Toronto the 7-0 lead.

In the Toronto 5th, Scutaro led off with a double, advanced to third on a fly out and scored on Lyle Overbay's deep sac fly to left for a 4-0 Toronto lead.

The Jays added a run in the fourth to lead 3-0. Adam Lind led off with a double and scored on Brad Wilkerson's RBI single to right.

Toronto scored twice in the second to take a 2-0 lead. Joe Inglett was hit by a pitch and stole second. After Scutaro's single advanced Inglett to third, both runners moved up on a wild pitch and it was 1-0, Toronto. Later, Overbay's RBI single gave the Jays a 2-0 edge.

The Orioles begin a three-game series vs. the Angels on Friday night with Brian Burres (7-6, 5.02) facing lefty Joe Saunders (12-5, 3.05)

Tor 7-13-0
Balt 1-7-0

Postgame Notes

Cabrera's Struggles
Cabrera today allowed seven runs and 11 hits over five innings. Dave Trembley believes he's leaving the ball up in the zone too much while Cabrera rules out any issues with mechanics. But Cabrera has now allowed 13 ER over 10 IP his last two starts. His ERA in June was 7.06 and it is up to 6.07 in July. In the season's first two months, Cabrera allowed four or more runs in just 3 of 12 starts. Since June first he has given up four or more in 7 of 10 starts.

Daniel Cabrera's postgame interview

Huff Stays Hot
With two hits in the suspended game and later two more, Huff went 4-8 in the last two games of this series. Huff is batting .344 (11-32) on this homestand and, over his last 37 games, is hitting .370-10-30 with 15 doubles.

The Pitching Numbers
O's on this homestand: team ERA of 5.67
O's in 20 games in July: team ERA of 5.89
O's have allowed 40 runs the last 6 games and 119 runs the last 18 games

Final Notes
The Orioles now trail 8-4 in the season series with Toronto and are 17-28 in games vs. the AL East........the O's are 3-5 on this homestand and have lost 12 of 16 and 16 of their last 24 games...........Melvin Mora was 2-4 and on this homestand is hitting .469 (15-32) with 4 homers and 15 RBI......He has 21 RBI over his last 13 games.......Nick Markakis picked up two outfield assists and takes over the AL lead with 11.....It's his second two-assist game of the season (also 5-18 v. Wash)..........The Jays 7-8-9 hitters, Lind, Wilkerson and Zaun went a combined 6-11 with three runs and 3 RBI......Lind was 8-16 in this series with a homer, five runs and 4 RBI.........Roy Halladay pitched 7 innings for the 15th time in 22 starts......Halladay has not lost to the Orioles since May 4, 2005, a span of 10 starts..........today's attendance was 22,239.

Steve Melewski's Live GameBlog

Oh Daniel
Tough one for Cabrera, again. He gives up seven runs in five innings. After pitching to an ERA of 7.06 in June, Cabrera's July ERA is 6.07. All the progress of April and May is almost washed away. The O's rotation remains a mess and Cabrera is once again providing more questions than answers.

Nick On The Mark
Markakis picked up his 10th outfield assist in the second inning. He threw Matt Stairs out at home for an inning-ending 9-2 double play. His throw was rifled right on the mark and Quiroz did a good job with a quick, swipe tag to keep this game at 0-0.

More From Bowie
Bowie lost that game today at home, 8-7 vs. Harrisburg. But in the last of the 9th, Matt Wieters hit a pinch-hit Grand Slam. It's his 4th Double-A homer since joining the Baysox.

Game Two, Sort Of, Underway
Today's regularly-scheduled contest has begun. First pitch was at 2:00 p.m. exactly and it's 84 degrees.

Tough One For Walker
In a game that started today at 11am, Jamie Walker pitched and allowed three runs in the seventh inning for Bowie in its game with Harrisburg. According to the box score, Walker allowed 5 hits, 3 runs, all earned, with no walks or strikeouts. After giving up a three-run homer to Seth Bynum, he allowed two more hits. His inning ended on a line drive double play.

The 31-year-old was the AL Cy Young winner in 2003, when he was 22-7, 3.25. He was an All-Star in 2002, 03, 05, 06 and this year.

Why are the O's wasting soo much time on Cabrera?
Its been 5 long years and he has not improved at all from what I can see, and I watch EVERY O's game!
At best, hes maybe a .500 pitcher?
If theres talent there, I'd love to know wheres he's hiding it!
Sure, he throws hard but he can't keep his head in the game for more than a few innings at a time, and he can't feild or hit worth a damn.
Time to get rid of him!
