Ravens Training Camp: Calm before the storm
The full Ravens team is now in Westminster, with today serving as an administrative day for coaches and players leading up to Friday's first full-squad practices. The morning practice will be at 8:45 a.m., with the afternoon session scheduled for 2:45 p.m.
Veterans reported to camp yesterday, took physicals, and were on hand for a team meeting at night. The only missing faces were cornerback Samari Rolle and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs.
Rolle has been cleared to miss the start of camp due to the death of his father. Harry Rolle died of a heart attack last week, and the funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
Suggs' absence is a much different situation. The sixth-year man out of Arizona State was a no-show at the meeting Wednesday night and apparently is considering skipping all of training camp. The Ravens put the franchise tag on Suggs this offseason, and both sides agreed to a one-year, $8.5 million contract, but Suggs has yet to sign the deal, meaning he can avoid penalties or fines that are usually issued when a player skips camp.
"We're going to find out," Coach John Harbaugh said when asked about Suggs' situation. "His situation is a little bit unique, and he's got to do what's best for him."
