Bonds Strikes Out in DC
While speculation swirled around Nationals Park on Wednesday about the possibility of Barry Bonds joining the D-Backs, I had a chance to ask Jim Bowden if he'd consider bringing the all-time home run champ to the District. His response? An emphatic, "No!" Bowden added, "He doesn't fit into our long term plans."

Jesus Flores Hits in the Pinch
After he hit the first pinch-hit home run of his career, Jesus Flores said he spent some time with Lenny Harris enjoying the moment. The young slugger who's been slumping lately told me the homer not only gave the team a bit of a lift last night but it was also a confidence booster for him that his manager Manny Acta believed in him enough to give him a chance to deliver against the Diamond Backs...

Lannan Finally Earns a Well Deserved W
How great was it to see John Lannan pick up his first win since May 18th? Before the game I chatted with pitching coach Randy St. Claire about Lannan's first half. Randy told me he's preached to John (and the other young pitchers) not to worry about the number of wins and losses. Randy said the numbers will come, and they should just worry about executing their pitches.
