Young lands on DL, Zimmerman to be reinstated
Add Dmitri Young to the ever growing list of Nationals players to land on the disabled list. Young was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List (retroactive to July 12) while he attempts to stabilize his diabetes.
Young has batted .280 with six doubles, four home runs and 10 RBI in 50 games this season. He has a .394 on-base percentage, supported by 42 hits, 28 walks and a hit-by-pitch.
The team is expected to recall third baseman Ryan Zimmerman from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus and reinstate him from the disabled list on Tuesday.
Zimmerman will wrap up his four-game rehab assignment with Columbus on Sunday. He batted .278 with 11 doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBI in 50 games with the Nationals, before going on the 15-Day DL on June 3 (retroactive to May 26) with a small labral tear in his left shoulder.
During his rehab, two games with Potomac and three with Columbus, Zimmerman has five hits in 21 at bats, a .238 average, with an RBI and four runs scored.
