Zimmerman's rehab is making progress
For the first time since landing on the disabled list on May 26th with a small tear in his left shoulder, third baseman Ryan Zimmerman took batting practice against live pitching, as well as fielding practice, prior to Tuesday night's game against the Diamondbacks.
Zimmerman had only been swinging a bat and hadn't fielded ground balls since the injury occurred. He hurt his shoulder sliding head-first into second base against the Orioles back in mid-May. He played six more games, trying to play through the pain before being sidelined.
Zimmerman said he feels better and hopes to be back after the All-Star break. He also said that not being able to contribute and watching his teammates suffer setbacks is the hardest part for him.
