A little more Matusz
| | Comments (9)

Did I really see a headline today that celebrity chef Julia Child was a spy?

Apparently, she was trying to save the country. I thought she only saved the giblets.

I believe this is the last word on first-round pick Brian Matusz for tonight: Nothing else is expected to happen before tomorrow.

OK, that's actually eight words.

It will be a major shock if the sides reach an agreement late tonight and Matusz's signature winds up on a contract. But it's expected to happen tomorrow before the midnight deadline. Both sides sound very confident.

Big day for your boy Lou, Roch. First he's on with you and Anita this afternoon, then has a great game, and finished the trifecta with a post-game interview with Amber. Lou should play tomorrow with Robertson pitching, but Scott needs to play as well. Sit Millar a game.

Rocky Cherry has taken some criticism since his return, but his stuff looks really good to me. With confidence and command he could be that 7th inning guy we've been looking for. Saw a fastball at 96 on the radar earlier this week and his curveball is nasty and he's not afraid to throw it, as evidenced by the 3-2, bases loaded hook tonight.

So should we expect Matusz to be called up next Spetember?!? I am interested to see how well this guy can pitch.

Man, the Bowie staff hearkens back to the old days of McNally, Palmer, Cuellar and Dobson. Tillman is lights out and they hold on to win 2-1 tonight, remaining in first place. That's a three game sweep of the best team in the other division--Trenton. Great job by the Bergesen--Hernandez--Tillman triumvrate. The best part is they hung an o'fer on the guy from Trenton who is chasing Montanez in the RBI race. Meanwhile, Sweet Lou is kicking Indian butt at the Jake--two hits and three RBI in one inning, gotta love this guy; gotta play this guy.

It's nice to play a team with more bullpen problems than us for once!

Montanez needs to play. Huge hit tonight to break the game open. Scott, of course, should play too. Millar needs to be a pinch hitter and play every third or fourth day, especially against tough lefties. He's a great guy and I hope he stays with the organization because I think he would be a great manager one day, but the time has come to play the future and he is not that.

I enjoy reading your blogs to start with and next if the O's sign Matusz. How much of a signing bonus you think he will get maybe 5 or 6 mil? Do you think it will be worth it for someone we may not see for 2 or 3 years? I thought Weiters was different he was a can't miss prospect no doubt.

Hey Roch!

I just found you after a google search. I'm a little slow, is all.... It's GREAT to still have you on the O's beat, and to still have access to your blog. The Sun was nuts to let you go. Viva la MASN! (Wish I could get it up here in New England, HD or no HD.) Anyway, thanks for still being out there. Schmuck is okay, but he's just not you, alas....

I'll be back when I have something pithy to say about our favorite team. Keep up the good work!

Thanks much! Glad to have you at the School of Roch. We're always really nice to the new students. And since you transferred from the old place, I'll remind you that your credits carry over! And even though you're a little late, I won't ask for a note from home. - Roch

let's get it done. he needs to get some innings in somewhere. It really is amazing the different pitcher cabrera can be when he throws strikes.
