Belliard on the move??
According to several published reports, the Nationals and Dodgers are in trade talks about Ronnie Belliard. One report says that Belliard was claimed off waivers, while the second report says they did not file a claim..
If in fact Belliard was claimed, Washington pulled him back off waivers and the Dodgers have 48 hours to work out a deal with the Nationals. Stay tuned.
One of the rumors is the Dodgers registered a claim to prevent Belliard from going to Arizona, who lost second baseman Orlando Hudson to a season-ending wrist surgery about a week ago; this according to the Los Angeles Times.
But according to the reports, the Dodgers are seriously interested in acquiring Belliard. It's well known around baseball that Los Angeles has been looking to work out a deal for Belliard since the July 31st trade deadline.
Belliard, who has played all four infield positions for the Nationals, is hitting .240 with 10 home runs and 33 RBI.
When approached in the clubhouse prior to the series opener with the Colorado Rockies, Belliard declined to comment.
