Bergesen's final line
Double-A Bowie's Brad Bergesen went six innings today, allowing two bases-empty home runs and leaving with a 2-1 deficit to Binghamton.
Bergesen allowed four hits, walked one and struck out four. His ERA is 3.00.
His 16th win will have to wait.
Jon Tucker has two more hits and a run scored. Matt Wieters is 0-for-2 with a walk.

Roch- You got to see that it wouldn't matter if a 25 year old Joe Montana QB'd for the Ravens, the pocket collapses faster then a Jenga Pile at the Lambda Lambda Lambda house. Smith is the only one with at least a chance of scrambling around enough to confuse the opposing D.
I feel sorry for any pocket passer with this O'line. Peyton gets about 4 seconds to make a pass. Last night, the average when not in the Shotgun was 2.25. That is half the time for the recievers to get open and downfield. For the Ravens, a 6 yeard out pattern is like a Hail Mary.
Bring Bergesen up here.
We won't need Sarfate's spot for awhile, let him take Waters spot.Waters has no future in this rotation, it's time to see what Bergesen can do. He has impeccable control, so at least he isn't going to be giving a ton of free passes.
I was at the game, and both of the solo shots were real "shots."
The Binghamton starter, Dillon Gee, was pretty outstanding (except for the one inning where Bowie pushed across one run, on a close play at the plate).
Great "Fan Appreciation" night at Bowie! Lots of players signing autographs and free hats!
Today's win was the 60th of the season and we now have a better record than the Detroit Tigers. The Orioles have 38 games remaining, 26 of which are at home. 31 of the 38 games are against teams which currently have winning records. It would be great to finnish .500, but anything close would indicate great improvement.
Olson's ERA over his last ten starts is 8.98.
For those advocating James Johnson becoming a starter this year. First, he has already stated that he does not want to do that. Secondly, How did that work out for the Yankees and Joba Chamberlain?
Roch,
I was at the Baysox game tonight and Wieters hit his thumb on either the batters helmet or bat, trying to throw out a runner in the 2nd inning. Jumping around in pain for a minute, it did not look good. Thumb had some blood, but he stayed in the game. He did not look real comfortable after that however, kept looking at and moving the thumb. Can you get us an update. Keep up the good work!
What makes a good Blog?
A good Blogger will get my attention and a few moments of my time.
Good comments by the readers will actually keep me interested long enough to relax and stay a while. This blog has both and for that I pledge my thanks, my loyalty, and........my eyeballs!
I was at the Bowie game tonight and I REALLY like what I see from Bergesen! That second solo shot he allowed was right after he was majorly squeezed by the ump on back to back pitches that should have been strikes... and I loudly reminded the umpire that was why he was calling the games at Double A (not that he probably cares much for what I think, but it made me feel better anyhow).
I tellya though, I keep hearing how Weiters can hit, but I have been to three games this season and I'll be darned if he hasn't taken an o-fer each time. I'm sure it's just a coincidence (the .354 batting average doesn't lie), but Matt is going to need to learn to start hitting while I'm there since I happen to be a full season plan holder with the big club!
Wieters is good, but he's no Melvin Mora!
Orioles' Magic Number: 22 [Number of wins needed in the remaining games for a winning season]
