O's welcome Brian Matusz to Baltimore
The Orioles officially welcomed their first-round draft pick, left-handed pitcher Brian Matusz, to Baltimore today at a press conference with the Baltimore media before Friday's game.
Matusz will head to Aberdeen to work out with the IronBirds, but he will not be activated to play with the team. The plan is for him to play in one of the fall leagues later in either Arizona or Hawaii.
This past season at the University of San Diego the lefty was 12-2, 1.71 and led the NCAA with 141 strikeouts.
