Chris Ray's comeback
Orioles reliever Chris Ray continues to make steady progress in his comeback from Tommy John surgery last August 16th. Ray returned to the O's clubhouse Saturday to work out with his teammates but not yet to be activated. He continues on a Minor League rehab program that has seen him pitch in recent weeks for the Aberdeen IronBirds, the Gulf Coast League O's, and the Frederick Keys.
In a combined 5 innings at those three stops he has given up 8 hits and 2 ER with no walks and six strikeouts.
Ray went 5-6, 4.43 last year with 16 saves. He had 33 saves in 2006.
Ray said his arm feels good and he's not sure if he'll pitch in Baltimore before this season is out.
Dave Trembley calls Ray's progress tremendous and says his work ethic has been "off the charts."
