Dave Trembley's Sunday press conference
A lot of people are talking about and speculating about Dave Trembley, his mood and his motivation during Sunday's post-game press conference.
Some wondered if he was being condescending to the press when he said something like "only intelligent questions, okay ?"
There was nothing wrong with Trembley and he wasn't sending the media any secret message. He was just frustrated with a one-run loss to the Yankees, as any diehard O's fan would be also. Some days he doesn't feel like answering questions just minutes after the game. But that is his job and he must do it whether it's fun or not.
It's a reporter's job to ask questions and when the team has lost those can stray toward the negative. We are not looking to be negative, speaking for most but not all in the press, but the questions reflect what happened in the game.
Dave Trembley was back to his usual talkative self today. He just needed to distance himself from that loss. Some managers-coaches are good about answering questions minutes after a tough loss. Others are still in the heat of the moment and that's okay. You can't just turn a switch.
Dave Trembley is a baseball lifer. He loves the game and thinks about it every waking moment. He has to handle two press conferences every day the team plays. If sometimes he's a little short or agitated because of that day's result, it's no big deal.
