Elijah Dukes recalled from Triple-A
Elijah Dukes, who missed 19 games with a right calf strain, was recalled from his Triple-A rehab assignment and reinstated by the Nationals today. Dukes injured his calf on August 3rd and was placed on the disabled list. This was the third DL stint for Dukes this season.
During his rehab assignment with the Clippers, Dukes went 1-11 with a home run and three walks in six games. Manny Acta said he wasn't concerned with what Dukes did at the plate, but he wanted to make sure he (Dukes) was able to push off on his leg.
Prior to landing on the DL, Dukes was hitting .264 with nine doubles, two triples, six homers and 23 RBI in 54 games. He stole 10 bases in 11 attempts and owns a .364 on-base percentage.
Dukes missed a total of 72 games during his three trips to the disabled list this season. He left the game on Opening Night with a right hamstring injury and missed 18 games. On July 6th, he tore ligaments in his right knee and missed 19 more games.
