Frederick Keys No-Hitter
Keys No-Hitter
Three Frederick Keys pitchers combined to pitch a no-hitter tonight as the Keys beat Salem 5-0 at home. Brandon Erbe went the first six innings with three walks and seven strikeouts. He improves to 9-10, 4.19. Ryan Ouellette pitched just 1/3 of an inning with two walks, then Fredy Deza finished up the last 2 2/3, gaining a save. It's the first no-hitter in the Carolina League since 2006.
It's the 5th no-hitter in Keys history and first since Radhames Liz, Russ Petrick, Jeff Montsani and Casey Cahill combined to pitch one also vs. Salem on 4-12-06.
Deza retired the side in order in the 8th and 9th innings, all on ground balls.
Erbe, the O's 3rd-round pick in 2005 out of Baltimore's McDonogh High, joins Erik
Schullstrom, Josh McNatt, John Maine and Liz as pitchers to have started games that ended in a no-hitter for the Keys.
Jason White hit a solo homer and Brandon Tripp added a two-run shot, his 13th, for the Keys.
Adam Pohl calls the last out of the Frederick Keys no-hitter

Good for the Keys. Good for Erbe. Good for the O's.
But P.S.--McDonogh is a private k-12 school in owings mills. id imagine such a prestigious school would be disappointed to see itself be referred to as "Baltimore's McDonogh High."
I was at Schullstrom's game, at home, in Frederick. My only no hitter in attendance.
