Giving the O's a Boost
| | Comments (0)

If you had the exacta of Chris Waters and Lou Montanez not only getting called up days apart, but helping the O's instantly, head to the counter to cash big.

Waters wasn't on anyone's radar and Montanez, we thought, was positioning himself for a September callup. But here they are and each has provided a lift to this team.

It's always exciting to see new players make an impact. It provides hope for the future. In this case Waters threw over 1,000 minor-league innings and Montanez played in over 900 minor-league games. Those are two feel-good stories. They also just happen to seem to be pretty good guys as well.

Years from now Waters can tell his grandkids how he shut down the team with the best record in baseball in their park. And Montanez will tell his about taking an All-Star pitcher out of the park in his first time up in the Majors.

They can never take those accomplishments away from that pair, whatever happens from now on.

Welcome to Baltimore, Chris and Lou. You've already helped this team and given the fans plenty to cheer about. You've worked hard to get here and deserve your shot. Here's looking forward to what you both do next.
