It's all in the timing
So Daniel Cabrera has a sore forearm, and now he'll begin serving his six-game suspension.
Perfect.
Following an appeal hearing, the discipline issued to Cabrera has been upheld. He can participate in pre-game drills over the next six days, but must be out of uniform and away from team areas once the games start.
Not a bad idea, even if he hadn't been suspended.
Cabrera is being punished for his actions during a July 29 game against the Yankees, when he was accused of throwing at Alex Rodriguez. I doubt that he was taking aim at A-Rod, but his reputation got in the way moreso than the Yankees' third baseman.
Cabrera was scheduled to start tomorrow night at Tropicana Field, but that's not going to happen now. He can be reinstated for the Sept. 5 game against the Oakland Athletics.

This 6-game suspension is just what Cabrera might need. With his dropping velocity, I suspect he's going through a "dead arm" period and needs some rest. That's a best case scenario, but with a negative MRI all the more likely.
It's just insane that they upheld this suspension. It should have been knocked down to 4 games. Are they gonna suspend Daniel another 6 games for each batter he hit while waiting for them to decide on this appeal? I think not. Oh wait, he didn't hit A-Rod, he got suspended for ALMOST hitting him.
Now, can we bring up Bergesen for Cabrera after Bowie wins the 'ship?
Monday call-ups Miller, Salazar and 2 more pitchers from Va.
I guess it's as good a time as any for him to start serving the suspension. Though I think the suspension is a complete croc. Perhaps he should be suspended further now that he has hit PayRod again since the alleged purposeful beaning. Sometimes, MLB gets it. Most of the time they don't.
Who's the sub? Cormier?
