Nationals Host Celiac Awareness Night at Nationals Park
The Washington Nationals will host Celiac Awareness Night when the team takes
on the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, August 16 at 7:10pm. Celiac disease is an
autoimmune digestive disorder that damages the villi of the small intestine and
interferes with the absorption of nutrients from food. This is triggered by the
protein gluten, most commonly found in wheat, rye and barley. Nationals Park
offers fans with Celiac Disease a variety of gluten-free items, including gluten-
free pretzels at Noah's Pretzels, Fish Tacos at Cantina Marina, three types of
chili at Hard Times Café, a variety of ice cream from Gifford's, coffee and
smoothies from Mayorga Coffee, and Redbridge beer, served at multiple
concession stands.
Tickets may be purchased at nationals.com/nfca at multiple price points with a
percentage of the proceeds benefiting the National Foundation for Celiac
Awareness. The NFCA will be located at a table in the Center Field Plaza with
information about celiac disease and tips on navigating Nationals Park for those
on a gluten-free diet. For more information on the Foundation, visit
www.celiaccentral.org.
