Nationals Manager Manny Acta to Deliver Meals on Behalf of Food & Friends
Washington Nationals Manager Manny Acta will deliver meals to selected Food
& Friends clients on Wednesday, August 27 at 11:30am. Manny will assist with
preparation of the meals at the Food & Friends headquarters prior to their
delivery to a nearby neighborhood. The organization prepares and delivers meals
to local residents living with life-challenging illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and
cancer.
During the Nationals 2008 Winter Tour, Manny, along with pitchers Jason Bergmann and John Lannan, Radio Broadcaster Charlie Slowes and members of the Nationals Front Office visited Food & Friends and assisted with food preparation. Food & Friends is a partner agency of the Capital Area Food Bank. The Nationals have a long standing partnership with CAFB, and host yearly "Thanksgiving in June" Food Drives at Nationals home games during a three-game weekend series in June.
