Roch,

What happened to Castro, he's a better SS...

Just a chance to get Cintron back in the lineup. I'm sure Castro will get the majority of the starts, but Dave Trembley doesn't want to bury Cintron on the bench. - Roch

Drew,
I had the same problem with finding the orioles game last night in the suburbs of D.C. The nats have the worst t.v ratings in the mlb because of how bad they are, the o's should be on masn and not masn2. When will they show all the games in hd?

Last night it was reported that Montanez couldnt swing a bat because of the throw from Polanco he took Friday night. Trembley said he thought he would be ready today. Is Montanez's hand still hurt or is he just not in the line-up?
Thanks

Manager Dave Trembley said Montanez is fine today, so we'll assume it's just a day off. Maybe we'll see him later in the game. - Roch

Why Cintron? If he must play, as crazy as this sounds, DH him and sit Millar for a change. Castro is hot, so milk it while you can.

I'm sure Olson is happy not to see Ordonez in the lineup. Imagine him trying to wade thru Ordonez, Cabrera, and Sheffield. If Olson fails again today I would skip his turn in the rotation next time as well. Bergeson pitches today so he lines up perfectly against the Yankees on Friday. Don't need a fith starter until Tuesday of the White Sox series, which if Liz has a good outing next time pencil him in for that.

Good to see Gary Thorne working the Little League World Series. Do they play thru September? Didn't know Leo Mazzone was doing color for Fox.

Umpire Causey is a minor league guy filling in. Same guy involved in the Montanez play Friday. Payton had every right to be upset, but I think that's his personality. Trembley, of course showed little emotion. Bench Coach Dave Jauss was extremely antimated in his reaction to the play. It was a terrible call which may have cost us the game. Causey should be doing the plate today. Scary!

No Castro? It's going to be a long day at short...

Hey Roch, I've missed a few posts here...don't know if you were aware, but Jake Arrieta is slotted to start for Team USA against China.

Yeah, that's what I was told yesterday, but it's good to have confirmation. Thanks. - Roch

Thanks Roch,

As your 1500 blog poster I just received my prize package. A 5 year unlimited blog access, a certificate suitable for framing and a $1.00 off coupon good at Boog's Barbecue (not readeamble during Yankee or Redsox games.) To ease your readers I am a life long Orioles fan and I didn't come in from out of town to steal this honor.

Thanks again.

If Johnson is a possibility for a starting role on the team in 2009, why is Sarfate/Waters gettting starts ahead of him. throw him out there and see if he has any success;give us an idea of where we will be pitching-wise next season.

BC Mike said:

My prediction for Sarfate was 5 IP, 3 Runs and 90 pitches. 4.2 IP, 4 Runs and 93 pitches . Does this mean I can move up from the back of the class after my abysmal Chris Waters first start prediction ?
Good to see the bats happen in the first.

5-1 so far here's hoping olson doesn't give it all back, cause well that would suck.

Are you sure there's not a chance to get Bergesen up here sooner, Roch? I think that Garrett Olson just presented his rotation spot on a silver platter.

Ray said:

"The Horror, The Horror" . . . . I had given up watching Garrett Olson pitch a couple of games ago, but decided to tune in on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Can we declare the Garrett Olson experiment over as well. I suggested on your blog a month ago that he should be sent down to the minors to consistently learn how to command his fastball in the strike zone. Problem is, I don't believe that he can do it. He's a high fastball pitcher who throws 90-91. That's not Jim Palmer-like. He was given a 4-run lead in this game twice. He is worse than Liz, Burres, Waters, Trachsel, Sarfate, or anyone else we can throw out there. Don't take my word for it, just look at the numbers.

Now we have a situational lefty(Castillo) facing a predominantly right-handed lineup, in the second inning no less. As I write this Cabrera enters the game in the third. If we can keep this close we may use every pitcher in the pen.

Send Olson down tomorrow and get some fresh arms for the pen.

If the O's can keep it close they could use every arm in the pen in this game. Olson needs to be sent out tomorrow to get another pitcher up here

Can Trembley can find someone to last past the 5th inning? The bullpen has been worn out all season long with Olson, Burres, Sarfate, Liz, etc failing to reach the 6th. If it wasn't for Guthrie giving them a break every 5 days, the 'pen would all have dead arms. I guess it is good that Bierd spent time on the DL so at least he'll be fresh. Now I know how Harry Doyle felt in Major League watching his beloved Indians take a beating. "Take over Monte, I'm in the bag...."

Roch,

It's because hernandez is in the lineup, we all love him... That's why we are winning on a sunday...
