The Orioles still haven't received the results of Daniel Cabrera's MRI. The wait continues.

No matter how Brian Burres pitches tonight, there are no assurances that he'll get another start. Manager Dave Trembley simply can't look that far ahead. He's taking it one series at a time and will announce his rotations as they come up.

A lot also depends on Cabrera's status.

Trembley is considering using a six-man rotation next month - if he can find six qualified and healthy starters.

Lou Montanez is in the lineup tonight so Trembley can see how he handles breaking stuff from a right-handed pitcher.

Melvin Mora is fine physically. This is just a routine night off. Same with Nick Markakis last night.

The Orioles won't bring up Chris Tillman from Double-A Bowie when rosters expand, but Brad Bergesen is being discussed.

Trembley also downplayed the chances of Tillman making the club out of spring training, reminding everyone that the kid is 20 and pitching in the Eastern League. He needs more seasoning in the minors.

However, Trembley didn't rule out catcher Matt Wieters making the club out of spring training. I wouldn't look for it to happen, but at least team officials are open to the idea. I'm still assuming that he starts out at Triple-A Norfolk, gets off to a great start and receives an early call-up.

When rosters expand, it will be with players brought up from the minors. Trembley said there won't be a repeat of last season, when veterans such as Victor Zambrano and Victor Santos were signed and plugged into the rotation.

Thank you!

happened to breeze through the sun's blog section and stopped on schmuck's blog for a minute. the last 4 or 5 posts had no comments and he had no more than 5 comments in any post. and it's not like he's banging out the posts so fast people can't respond. Poor guy had no idea what he was getting into, Roch built a big following and lighting wasn't going to strike twice.

Brian, you bring back memories. I remember one year you could not buy a pack of Topps without 3 or 4 Chico Salmon's falling out . I figured somebody at the Topps plant was asleep at the switch during the Chico Salmon run and so they sent the excess to Canada. I had about 18 or 19 Chico's ...Brooks Robinson was almost impossible to get.

Here is an idea, once Bowie is done in the playoffs you take thier #1-4 starters and plug them in behind Guthrie. Should get each of them 2 starts or so and I think them all being up together would be a good way to keep thier morale up if they get crushed.

SIX qualified starters? How do you define "qualified"?

Yes Roch, to the last part of your post, THANK YOU!

Yeah, that's good news. If we're going to get beat up, let's get beat up seeing what we have in the minors. Although in the offseason, the O's really to sign a middle of the rotation veteran. Somebody like what Benson was when he was healthy, but cheaper. Good luck, I guess.

When can we move on from Daniel Cabrera? He makes me tired.

Roch -

Anyway we can revise the order of these posts, so first post is listed first?

If you think Cabrera is getting harsh treatment ...read this. Bedard under the bus.

That's some wishful thinking on Trembley's part when you consider that we basically have 'Jeremy Guthrie: One Man Rotation' right now. If there's five other "qualified and healthy" starters to pitch behind him, why aren't they here now!?
