Roster move - sort of
The Orioles have recalled infielder Oscar Salazar from Triple-A Norfolk to provide infield depth while Melvin Mora nurses a hamstring injury. They've optioned pitcher Radhames Liz, but he won't leave the club. Liz will make his next start, Tuesday in Boston, after rosters expand.
Here's the Orioles' lineup:
Roberts - 2B
Payton - CF
Markakis RF
Huff- 3B
Hernandez - C
Scott - DH
Millar -1B
Montanez - LF
Castro - SS
Waters - P
Roch, I thought a player had to be off the roster for a certain number of days when he was optioned unless he was brought back because of an injury. Does this rule not apply to September callups or am I wrong about the rule?

You're right about the rule, and we both learned something today. A player doesn't have to stay down for 10 days (unless there's an injury) once the minor league season ends. Not like Liz could stay anywhere after Sept. 1 because Norfolk is done playing. - Roch
Are we gonna run out of options on Liz? Seems like he goes back and forth an awful lot. (Reminds me of what the Red Sox used to do with Kevin Youkilis. I guess he turned out alright!)

A player only uses one option per season. The Orioles can send Liz back and forth, and it only counts as one. - Roch
maybe FernCab was more frustrated with himself, and then later appologized to D-Trem. otherwise, i'm with you, and trying to figure how he's still on the roster. perhpas pitching is just that glaringly thin, and that we'll never see him again after oct.....
What's with Oriole pitchers and 4 straight walks?
