Smith to start against Rams
Troy Smith will get the start for the second straight preseason game Saturday night when the Ravens travel to St. Louis to face the Rams.
Head coach John Harbaugh announced today that Smith will get a chance to play most of the game, likely deep into the second half, and rookie Joe Flacco might get a chance to take over from there.
The third preseason game is usually when the first-string players see the most action, but head coach John Harbaugh said that while Smith is getting the nod this weekend, it does not necessarily mean that he is leading Kyle Boller in the competition for the starting job.
"The thinking is Kyle has had 42 starts and we have a good idea of what he is and what he's been," Harbaugh said. "We need to find out more about Troy Smith. He needs those reps with the [starters]. He needs them against a defense in a third preseason game where they're game-planning him a little bit and we'll see how he does."
Smith started last Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings, but did not use the opportunity to separate himself from the pack. He had just five passing attempts in a full two quarters of action, going 3-for-5 for 25 yards. He did get a chance to utilize his great speed, however, picking up 35 yards rushing.
Despite the poor outing last time out, Smith said he's not surprised that he is getting the start again.
"I say that because I am confident in what I can do and what I will do," Smith said.

RAVENS RULE!!!!!
I hope they start Kyle and then bring Joe along quickly.
