The lineup and D-Cab update
It's Brian Roberts' turn to sit, as manager Dave Trembley finds a rotation that works for him - sit Nick Markakis one night, Melvin Mora the next, and Roberts the next.

The MRI on Daniel Cabrera's right elbow didn't reveal any structural damage. Cabrera might throw today, but the Orioles are considering resting him and taking the next 48 hours to determine what's wrong, why his velocity is down significantly.
First base coach John "T-Bone" Shelby is on the field early with Montanez, who is trying to improve his throwing so he has a better chance of sticking next season as the fourth outfielder. The Orioles see him as a less-expensive version of Jay Payton, but his overall outfield play needs to get better.
How exactly is it working? Didn't they lose the games that Nick and Melvin sat?
I say we should keep Millar next season for his leadership, and he can help the young guys since he is a veteran. He also is a good defensive 1st baseman. Getting Tex will be impossible if the sox and yankees get involved and they shouldn't pay him 100 million and be in debt. But heck, maybe they will go after Tex.

As for Montanez, I'm surprised they don't see him as a starting left fielder. He's got a better bat than Payton-- one that we could use in the lineup every day.

With the decrease in velocity, shouldn't they be looking at DCab's shoulder and rotator cuff?
I know he's your every day RF, but can Markakis play center at all? He's certainly got the arm.
Payton can easily be replaced by Montanez in the field... he already does at the plate & is 10 years younger!
I am soooo ready for Adam Jones to get back in CF. Payton gives it his all but he can't cover the ground that Jones can. Last night Payton looked like an over-worked chorus girl in center as he ran his routes to the many gappers out there.
Payton gives it 100% running out everything he hits but I think we'll be better next year with Larrapin' Lou as the 4th OF'er
Roch, have they decided to drop Cabrera's appeal of his suspension? That would give his forearm discomfort to subside.

Yea, I'm there with you on Alba, Johansen, or Portman, but considering Roch's age and the overall demographic of this blog, I figured I'd shoot more for their demographic.
