Tweaking the rotation
| | Comments (7)

With Daniel Cabrera serving his six-game suspension beginning tonight, the Orioles made a minor adjustment to their rotation.

Left-hander Chris Waters will take Cabrera's turn tomorrow, working on normal rest. Nothing to it.

Brian Burres will start Sunday, giving manager Dave Trembley two similar left-handers back-to-back. Not a good thing.

Radhames Liz starts Monday, followed by your favorite and mine: "Undetermined."

Any suggestions? Keep in mind that rosters will have expanded.

Tuesday? I think Jerry Lewis is available.

The whole Brad Bergeson conversation has reached the point where I do not want to see him on an MLB mound this season. Some people's expectations seem high to me. If he were to start a game and follow the time-worn O's scenario -- by getting lit up in 2 and 2/3 innings -- it might prove damaging to his self-esteem and ruinous to the hopes of O's fans for decades to come. Bring back Olsen, let him get lit up (or not) and give us all something to look forward to over the winter, Andy.

I agree with you Andy. Plus, there are three other guys at Bowie that are equally as good. Hernandez has a better ERA and more strikeouts than any of them, but I never hear him touted highly. Hopefully, Roch can talk to one of the scouts and tell us what they think of Bradley Bergesen, Chris Tillman, David Hernandez and Jason Berken's chances are to make the big club, and how he would rank them.

Maybe the O's should trot out Joe Flacco to start

I thought i saw Sarfate in the dugout....any chance he will be making a spot start??

Jason Berken should start Tuesday. He pitched Thursday so he will be on normal rest. He has very good control, and has only given up 9 HR in 145 IP. He's 12-4 with a 3.58 ERA. He's 24 years-old, it's time to see what he can do.

Your thoughts Roch?
