Double-A Bowie is leading Reading, 2-1, in the seventh inning.

David Hernandez was pulled after four innings. He allowed one run and four hits, walked four and struck out six, leaving his ERA at 2.58.

Matt Wieters didn't start tonight. Shortstop Blake Davis is 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

Lou Montanez was talking about Davis earlier today - only because I asked about him, but still...

He said Davis struggled to hit breaking balls during the first half of the season, but has since done a much better job. Davis' average is up to .276.

"And he could always play defense," Montanez said.

Montanez also said Davis' swing is very similar to Scott Moore's, which leads me to wonder: What the heck ever happened to Scott Moore?

Roch,

Is there a reason he was pulled? Pitch-count/Possible call-up?

I doubt it's a call-up if he started and went four innings. I'm leaning toward pitch count, but trying to find out. - Roch

Did Brandon Synder get hurt tonight? He got pulled after one plate appearance.

Moore is on the DL isn't he? Since the very end of July I believe.

I was at the Frederick game and Snyder was hurt tonight. I have no idea how serious it was but would say it didn't look too bad. He was pulled off the bag in the top of the third on a wild throw by pitcher Kyle Schmidt, who was trying to field a bunt. The Hillcats runner ran into Snyder's arm, bringing back some bad memories of B-Rob's elbow injuery a few years back. Snyder left the game but didn't appear to head to the training room, just the dugout.
