Browns intentionally injure McGahee? (UPDATED)
The Ravens believe that the eye injury that Willis McGahee's sustained in Sunday's win over the Browns was no accident, and are asking the NFL to take a look at the incident.
The team sent tapes of two separate plays to the league, where they believe that Browns players intentionally gouged McGahee's eyes.
"We talked to the league," head coach John Harbaugh said yesterday. "We asked them for their opinion on what happened, and we're waiting to hear back on it."
Harbaugh declined to name the players that the Ravens believe were involved.
"I wouldn't want to comment on it, but you can see it on the tape," he said.
ESPN.com's James Walker reports that Cleveland linebacker Andra Davis is one of the players that look to be involved. Walker says that Davis can be seen poking McGahee in the right eye during a play midway through the third quarter.
Walker also says that it's unknown who the Ravens believe was involved in the second incident.
McGahee's eye swelled up during the game, and limited his ability to play late in the second half. Harbaugh said that the eye is still swollen and it could be an issue leading up to the Ravens' matchup with the Steelers on Monday Night Football.
"It still looks pretty bad to me," he said. "As long as he can see, he'll play. But if he can't see, he's not going to be able to play. So, we'll have to try to get that swelling down."
UPDATE: (6:07 p.m)
The league has reviewed the tapes that the Ravens sent in, and has found no evidence that any of the Browns' defensive players intentionally gouged the eyes of Willis McGahee.
