Coffee talk in the Bronx
| | Comments (8)

Good morning to all.

The subway ran smoothly again today, though it was a local, so we made about 400 stops.

One young male fan wore an Orioles cap. I assume he made it out alive. I respect his loyalty - and his guts. Hopefully, they're not visable somewhere on 161st St.

Penn Station is open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. I assume the other 3 1/2 hours are spent powerwashing the inside.

Yankee Stadium is employing an extra 1,600 security workers this weekend. Better safe than sorry.

Gates will open to fans at 1 p.m. tomorrow for a game that's scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. The first fight is scheduled for 1:15 p.m.

Alcohol won't be sold until 6 p.m.

I'm bringing a flask. And a bullet-proof vest. And a few more security workers.

Chris Waters, who starts tomorrow for the Orioles, gave the New York Times the following quote:

"I never really liked the Yankees just because they try to buy a World Series."

It must be nice to win one every once in a while. Or at least get close.

OMG, Chris Waters is THE MAN for saying that. Thank you, Chris Waters, for being awesome.

Note to Chris: Nice sentiments. Your own owner tried that and failed. Nobody has forgotten Joey Belle.

Way to go Chris! Let's give the Yankees a nice big L for their last game in that stadium.

Let's hope Waters backs that up by putting up an O's win in the last game at the Stadium.

i went up to visit the evil empire twice last season, in support of the boys. unfortunately or fortunately, i found that because we're considered so little a threat to them, the Yankee fans were more admiring of my support than they were nasty in any way.

they simply don't care about the Orioles, or their fans.

of course, one cool thing was that the first game of those two trips was the 12-0 shellacking. but i still only got a couple of jabs.

i look so forward to the day when it is courageous to wear O's gear in the Bronx. and our day will come.

whether they employ guys named Gardner or not.

Go Chris! Go O's!

Waters, you said it right there!! Good for you.

Note to tvdpdx: There's a difference between going after one big free agent, and routinely spending 2-3x more than the rest of the league.

But a nice snarky comment, nonetheless.

Coffee...mmm...I was trying to do the crossword, to see how many brain cells survived the night, but the words weren't landing in my brain -- because I was trying to function without coffee ! There's the thermos, right where my DH left it, TWO feet from my head, so how could I have missed it ? Oh, yeah, I was trying to function without coffee ! I hate day games after late nights.

It's still percolating through my system, so hopefully I'm not typing Klingon. I just had to pop in and add my thanks to Chris - the Yankee worship is getting a bit deep. "The Cathedral" ? Oy !

We're looking forward to seeing Chris pitch, as always.
