Trembley's return official (update)
| | Comments (14)

The Orioles just announced that they've exercised manager Dave Trembley's option for 2009. They also added a club option for 2010.

More to come after I get to Camden Yards.

The Orioles are determining how to make room on the 40-man roster for Omir Santos, Alfredo Simon and Brian Bass. They can move Chris Ray to the 60-day disabled list. That solves one problem.

Huzzah!

Congrats, Dave and welcome home again.

How is the sorry state of pitching not Trembley's fault?
- Is he the one that overworked the bullpen? Yup.
- Does he take the starter out before he has pitched 5 innings? Yup.
- Is he obsessed with giving veterans more playing time over young guys? Yup(Don't use Jones as your arguement. He was added as the centerpiece of the Bedard deal. He was going to play if Trembley liked it or not).

Trembley is fine but he has the overuse of the bullpen going for him just like last year. Albers had already pitched 49 Innings before July when he went down. Sherrill surpassed his career high in InnP in early August. Cormier came up in May and has pitched about 60 Innings.

I like Dave, I do, but can someone hand him a copy of Weaver on strategy?

Check out this rant on the sorry state of Orioles pitching (it ain't Trembley's fault)

Hopefully, DT negotiated the following minor points as part of deal:

1) Baltimore pitchers only need 2 strikes to get the K.
2) Games only last 6 innings.
3) Sunday is mandatory off day.
4) Season ends Jul 31st.

Good move. We've been losing every year no matter who the manager is. By extending Trembley, the team acknowledges that it's the players who bear the responsibility for both wins and losses. Trembley has made some mistakes with the bullpen, but overall, he's part of the solution, not the problem.

Real happy for Dave. I hope this gives the same stability to ALL of his coaches. IMHO, they're the best.

Well if they can keep Oakland under 30 runs, I'll consider the day a rousing success!

I have mixed emotions about that. I am not sure he has what it takes to get us a championship. Don't get me wrong, he has some strong points, but I believe his glaring weakness is game management. His personnel handling traits are real good, but is that good enough???

That's good to hear. Congrats to Dave!

I know with the disheartening losses lately it's easier to try to pick and find fault, but I can't blame Trembley for being "damned if you do, damned if you don't" when it comes to his pitching staff right now. He hasn't done anything to shake my faith that he's the right guy for the job of getting the Orioles back to where they need to be.

I just hope the team doesn't "honor" his extension the way they did his official hiring last year. If Oakland scores 30 runs against us tonight I'm going to throw myself from the top of the Bromo Tower!

Good to hear Dave will be back. He's a great guy.

Good to hear. He's the best manager we've seen since Davey was here.
I just wish Trembley could pitch too...

Good move. He's the best player on the team right now.
