Orioles to Raise Funds for Welcome Back Veterans Initiative Through September 11 Game Ticket Sales
The Orioles today announced an OriolesREACH September 11 fundraiser to benefit Welcome Back Veterans, a Major League Baseball-supported initiative designed to raise public awareness about issues facing today's veterans and to raise funds to support programs and services that these returning soldiers need to repair and restore their lives.
The team will donate 50% of the proceeds from all future group and single game tickets sold for their 7:05 p.m. game against the Cleveland Indians to Welcome Back Veterans. Injured service men and women from Walter Reed Army Medical Center will attend that day's game as guests of the Orioles and one service member will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.
"The Orioles and OriolesREACH are proud to partner with Welcome Back Veterans on this worthwhile endeavor," said Orioles Director of Communications GREG BADER. "We are fortunate to enjoy the support of many servicemen and women and their families, and this is an opportunity for us to give back to those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country."
On September 11, all MLB teams will wear the Stars and Stripes hats that were worn the weekend of July 4.
