OriolesREACH & Brian Roberts to Host ESPN Fundraiser for Hospital for Children
OriolesREACH and Orioles' second baseman Brian Roberts will host the third annual Brian's Baseball Bash at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore to raise funds for the University of Maryland Hospital for Children at the University of Maryland Medical Center. The event will feature great food, an ESPN Zone Game Card, silent and live auctions, and a chance to mingle with Orioles players and get autographs.
Roberts has devoted many hours to visiting young patients at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children in his adopted town of Baltimore. He understands what the children are going through because, as a child, he underwent surgery for a congenital heart condition. Brian's Baseball Bash enables Roberts to take his commitment to the children one step further. Last year's Bash raised more than $250,000.
"I have enjoyed visiting kids at the Hospital for Children over the last several years and have gotten so much out of my time there," said Roberts. "Hosting this event is a chance for me to give back. My teammates and I are looking forward to a fun night at ESPN Zone in support of a great children's hospital."
Recognized statewide and regionally as a center of excellence for children with critical illnesses and complex, chronic conditions, the University of Maryland Hospital for Children combines state-of-the-art medicine with family-centered care.
"We are grateful to Brian for his personal visits to our patients and for organizing this one-of-a kind fundraiser. With his support, we will be able to expand and improve upon the specialized services we offer to children," says Steven J. Czinn, M.D., head of the University of Maryland Hospital for Children and professor and chair of pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Tickets for the event are $200 for adults and $150 for children under age 12. To purchase tickets, call Krista Ellis at (410) 328-6064.
