Shairon Martis to make MLB debut Thursday night vs. Atlanta
Shairon Martis will make his Major League debut on Thursday night as the starting pitcher against the Braves in Atlanta. Martis, who was called up on September 1st, will start in place of Collin Balester, who was scratched due to a mild left glut strain. Balester will be back in the rotation for his next start on Tuesday in New York.
Martis went 5-6 with a 3.64 ERA in 21 starts between Triple-A Columbus and Double-A Harrisburg prior to being promoted to the Nationals. Martis' ERA ranks fourth among all Nationals' Minor League pitchers with a minimum 100 innings pitched.
Besides playing the minors this season, Martis represented the Netherlands in the Olympics, in Beijing, as well as the Nationals in the MLB Futures Game.

Fair enough. Thanks for the reply, Pete.
Birdbrain,
I agree 100%. This the third time Milledge misjusdged a hard liner right at him. It's probably the hardest play for a center fielder to judge. He froze for a split second and it cost him. The fact that he didn't hustle shows his maturity level isn't quite there yet. I do believe, in time, that he'll learn from these types of mistakes. Let's not judge him on one badly played fly ball, because he's having a pretty good year for basically a second year player.
Just saw the Utley triple. The lack of enthusiasm displayed by Millings on that plsy was disgraceful. He gets a bad jump and then turns the wrong way. OK, that happens. The fact he didn't bother to hustle after the ball after it went off his glove is unforgivable. Your opinion?
