Singles-hitter Reimold
The guy must really be tiring. Now he's barely clearing the infield.
But seriously, Nolan Reimold is having a huge night. He just looped a run-scoring single over Akron shortstop Brandon Chaves' head to give Double-A Bowie a 6-2 lead in the sixth. Reimold also has homered twice and driven in four runs.
Brad Bergesen retired 11 of 12 batters before issuing a leadoff walk in the sixth. A run eventually scored on a throwing error and ground out. Bergesen has held Akron to three hits - none since the third inning.
He just opened the seventh by striking out Matt LaPorta again, this time on a 92 mph fastball, and Stephen Head with 91 mph heat.
Update: Matt Whitney followed those strikeouts by homering to reduce Bowie's lead to 6-3. Felix Romero is warming in the bullpen.

Reimold could end up rotting down the road, as he'll be 25 in October. I think we ought to bring him up before he's too old to be a prospect. I mean, we called up Montanez and he's been playing rather well. Why not try Reimold? I'm still puzzled as to why he wasn't invited to spring training before the season started.
Fans, ya gotta love 'em. Reimold has a career night and now all of a sudden he has been "rotting away" for years. He has no position on the O's (do you really want to bench Markakis for him?), he has been efffective but never dominating in the minors, and where have you been the last few years if you have been lamenting his "rotting away". Blake Davis threw off his collar for the series . . . Bring him up to play SS so he doesnt rot away any further!
Nolan has Wieters batting behind him and Nettles batting behind Wieters. He sees a LOT of good pitches. By contrast, Matt has come to bat twice in the two playoff games with runners on base, I think it has been 9 plate appearances. He was intentionally walked last night and I think grounded out tonight.
Reimold has been on fire tonight. He has hit three homeruns and has 8 RBI's. Has he been this good and productive throughout the year?
How much longer are we going to let Reimold's bat rot away in the minors.
The guy is 24 years old, give him a chance. He has mashed at every level he has played at.
