Three More Cable Operators to Launch MASN
|

MASN, the local leader in live sports entertainment, has reached affiliate agreements with three more cable providers serving the DMAs of Charlotte, Greenville and Raleigh/Durham, bringing the total number of operators carrying MASN in the Tar Heel state to six. The cable providers will begin carrying the regional sports network this fall.

Four of the top six providers in North Carolina already carry MASN to nearly 800,000 local households, including DirecTV, Dish Network, Mediacom and Charter. Across MASN's television territory, twenty-four providers carry the network, from Harrisburg, PA to Charlotte, NC.

MI Connection (for Mecklenburg-Iredell counties) will begin carrying MASN on September 8. The network services thousands of viewers in Mooresville, Davidson and Cornelius, just north of Charlotte, N.C. MASN is on Channel 68 and MASN2 is on Channel 33.

Another provider, Reds Cable, which services residents of Bath, N.C. outside Greenville, is expected to begin carrying the network to customers in early October. Additionally, Buggs Island, a cooperative serving the North Carolina border counties of Mecklenberg and Brunswick, Virginia, and the DMAs of both Richmond, VA and Raleigh/Durham, NC, is expected to launch the network later this fall.

"Our customers have been asking for MASN, and we are excited to give them MASN's unique, local programming. The network delivers essential regional sports programming that can't be found anywhere else. MASN's Davidson, UNC Charlotte and other Carolina basketball, as well as their Major League Baseball programming, is essential to our area," said Paul Reilly, Marketing and Public Relations Manager for MI Connection.

Last winter, MASN televised more than 30 NCAA basketball games featuring 12 North Carolina colleges and universities, including UNC-Wilmington, Campbell, NC State, UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Greensboro, Winston-Salem State, Appalachian State, Davidson, High Point, UNC-Asheville and Winthrop. MASN also carries a robust slate of local coaches' shows featuring Roy Williams, Sylvia Hatchell, Skip Holtz, Sidney Lowe and Tom O'Brien.

"This is a significant development that demonstrates the growing demand for MASN's local sports programming throughout North Carolina," said MASN spokesman Todd Webster.
