Tons of runs...for both sides
So I'm sitting here watching the game, and it's almost unbearable. I know I am beating the proverbial dead horse, but come on; our pitching is downright horrible. There is no way to sugarcoat this, our pitching staff has the worst ERA in the league.
That's right; we just surpassed the Texas Rangers. And what may make this even harder to swallow is that as of recently, we have the best offense in baseball.
We were the only team in August to have a team batting average above .300. So what does our pitching staff do in return, how about a combined ERA of 6.16? That's right, look at it twice, please, go do the math yourself. I didn't believe it either when I first found it out.
Does anyone else remember when the pitching staff (mainly the bullpen) was the strong part of this team? Man, does that seem like a century ago. We have now given up 10 or more runs in 4 of our last 5 games.
In the last 4 and a half games, we have surrendered 38 walks. So what do O's fans have to look forward to in September? Well, since Trembley, for some reason, is not playing the young guys (I guess all those vets deserve playing time--give me a break), at least you'll get your money's worth watching 4 and half hour games.
