Was it payback?
Tampa Bay reliever Trever Miller just buried a fastball in Ramon Hernandez's left thigh.
Miller obviously was aiming for a fleshy part of the catcher's body. And if you don't immediately come up with at least three jokes, I'll be disappointed.
Oriole pitchers have hit three Rays tonight, so that might have been on Miller's mind. Or perhaps it was Hernandez plowing into Akinori Iwamura on his way to second base.
Hernandez was kind enough to reach down and make sure Iwamura was still breathing. He also dispelled that silly myth that he avoids contact - unless that's just at home plate. He's a beast on the basepaths.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox defeated the Indians, 5-4, so Tampa Bay will have to clinch the AL East in Detroit.

Any part of Hernandez's body is a fleshy part. And it was definitely intentional, but what Rays pitchers don't know is that we hit everybody, we can't help it, and its definitely not intentional.
What I don't get is after Castro gets a leadoff double Trembley pinch hits Cintron and Quiroz for Roberts and Markakis. Come on, that's just wrong
Markakis and Huff have 2 games left to reach 50 doubles. Trembley just doesn't want that to happen I guess.
It was nice seeing Hernandez take out the 2B. I haven't seen that since Albert Belle crushed Fernando Vina many years ago.
Baltimore can get payback at TB by winning a game for once... they've now lost 12 straight to them after tonight. Then again it's September, and just like every year Baltimore plays at a 0.150 winning clip.
Trembley does not know how to win!!...we haven't lost all these recent games, we have been out-managed...and it will continue when the Blue Jays come to town!!
Why in the hail do you pinch hit for Roberts and Markakis (the evenings two hottest hitters mind you) for Q and Cintron?? We might have had a rally going after Castro's double...and not to mention Markakis could have gotten a double or possibly an RBI or two (both of which i'm sure he wants, as well as all Baltimore fans that have nothing else to root for)..... Does anybody believe that Markakis asked out?? heck NO!!!
I was all for Trembley in the beginning...but he is in over his head. He reminds me of my sons soccer coach last year, a great "practice coach", where he teaches the game and fundamentals to the players, BUT has no idea how to set them up for a win!!!! If you don't have the proper instinct and know how to push the right buttons,in game time situations, then you will never win!!!
The reason we have Roberts and Markakis in the 1 and 2 holes, is so if the lineup turns over, we have two of the hottest hitters on deck...
ARRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
