Don't Worry, Zimm Still Has The Power

So much for Ryan Zimmerman's lack of power after returning from his shoulder injury. He has hit 3 homers in 8 games.
I had a coworker tell me he really didn't believe Ryan was a great hitter, just a good hitter, that he wasn't really a clutch hitter, and that he can't hit for power. Just like with fans who said that Nats were not going to get better, they have.
I think Ryan Zimmerman is going to be a very good hitter, if not, great in the major leagues. He can hit for power, maybe not 30 or 40 HRs every year, but 20 to 25 and even to 30 is possible every season if he can remain healthy. Ryan can't get hits consistently? Wow, he has a ten-game hitting streak in progress. I am saying he is hitting. And he will continue to hit.
This coworker said, sure, he is a good defensive third baseman. And on this point, this anonymous coworker is absolutely correct. In a game last week, he was involved in four double plays and was one out away from having a hand in five double plays in one game. Ryan has made parallel-to-the-ground diving catches inches from the ground. These plays keep opponents' runs off the scoreboard. That is just the same as getting an RBI. Its an anti-RBI. As important as the offense is a good defense. Zimm gets it done.
I believe Ryan is the hitter the Nats expect and he is only going to get better. He hits clutch home runs. A solo homer to tie the game at 5-5 late in the game helps the whole team relax and go out and get a win. His hits are in clutch situations and they help the Nats win.
Let's Give Ryan a chance before we pass judgment. Let's give this team a chance before we throw the in towel. The team is young; Ryan is young. The team has 16 players 25-years-old and younger. It is going to take some time.
Right now we are getting a chance to see a team that has come together and is winning. The Nats are also beating teams that have to win to stay in the pennant race. They did it last year and they are doing it again this year.
That is fun and promises for a bright future because at least the Nats are showing they can do it. I keep saying team. Ryan keeps saying team. It's the Nats that are making this happen, not just one player.
Similar to their last season run last year, this team is turning into the ultimate party crasher. Now let's get the party started earlier next year, shall we?
