MASN to Televise 14th Annual BB&T Classic
MASN, the Official Cable Network of the BB&T Classic, will televise the 14th annual basketball double-header live on Sunday, December 7th. Coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. from the Verizon Center with a 30-minute pregame show.
The BB&T Classic features the best in regional college basketball. The Classic tips off when Navy faces Virginia Tech at 5:00 p.m., and culminates with a showdown between regional favorites George Washington and Maryland at 7:30 p.m.
MASN will air each game live and in its entirety, including pre and post game shows for each game. Veteran MASN announcer Bob Carpenter will join John Feinstein to provide expert analysis and play-by-play for the Classic. Carpenter joined MASN and the Washington Nationals in 2006 after 10 years in the TV booth of the St. Louis Cardinals. Carpenter worked MLB, college basketball and college football during 18 seasons of play-by-play with ESPN from 1988-2005.
Feinstein is an esteemed sportswriter, analyst and commentator who has authored over twenty books including various best sellers on basketball, football and golf. Feinstein appears frequently on NPR, The Tony Kornheiser Show and The Jim Rome Show and does color commentary for Navy football games. Together, Carpenter and Feinstein will cover both games, as well as the pre and post game shows.
To honor the contributions of local servicemen and women, MASN has also teamed up with the USO to provide 3,000 complementary tickets to the event to military personnel and veterans throughout the Washington region.
The BB&T Classic benefits the Children's Charities Foundation of Washington, D.C. Since 1995, the Foundation has distributed 6.8 million dollars to charities throughout the Washington region supporting disadvantaged and at-risk children through programs to assist with health and welfare, to build strong families, and to provide educational and recreational opportunities.
MASN televises more than 180 NCAA Division-I basketball games each season. MASN features the best conferences in the country - including the A-10, ACC, America East, ASUN, Big East, Big South, CAA, Conference USA, MAAC, MEAC, NEC, Patriot and Southern conferences. MASN is also the official regional carrier of the Big East Basketball Game of the Week.
