Round up of this week's action in college football
| | Comments (0)

MASN brought you three college football match-ups this weekend, but here's a round up of how the rest of the college football scene played out.

Be sure to click on the conferences for more info about your favorite team.

ACC:
Thursday night, Atlantic Division favorite Wake Forest, defeated Clemson in a low-scoring affair. Saturday, six teams had a bye while every other team played out of conference. The big game of the weekend for the conference was in Chapel Hill where UNC defeated Notre Dame. Georgia Tech, Miami and Virginia all also won their match-ups with non-conference opponents.

Big East:
Friday night, Louisville edged Memphis 35-28. Three of the universities had this Saturday off, while the other four teams battled for conference supremacy. West Virginia beat lowly Syracuse and Cincinnati defeated Rutgers.

Big Ten:
Every team from the conference played each other except for Michigan, who was upset at home by MAC team Toledo, 13-10. Minnesota stunned Illinois 27-20, while Iowa dismantled Indiana 45-9. Penn State played Wisconsin in a big game for both schools. The Nittany Lions trounced the Badgers to the tune of a 48-7 win. Michigan State defeated previously unbeaten Northwestern 37-20 and Ohio State pushed past Purdue 16-3.

Big 12:
The game of the day took place in Dallas where Texas and Oklahoma renewed the Red River Rivalry. Texas beat its archrival Sooners 45-35. In other conference Top 25 games, No. 16 Kansas pulled away from Colorado 30-14, No. 17 Oklahoma State edged undefeated Missouri on the road 28-23 and the high-flying Texas Tech Red Raiders beat former power Nebraska 37-31 in overtime. Other conference action included Kansas State beating Texas A & M 44-30 and Baylor crushing Iowa State 38-10.

Pac-10:
Washington and California each had a bye week while the other eight teams squared off. No. 8 USC shutout Arizona State 28-0; Stanford edged Arizona 24-23; Oregon State ran up the score on Washington State, beating the Cougars 66-10. UCLA traveled to Oregon and was edged by a touchdown by the Ducks 31-24.

SEC:
The No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide and the Ole Miss Rebels were idle watching their conference rivals battle it out amongst themselves. A struggling South Carolina offense found a way to beat Kentucky with a 24-17 win. No. 13 Vanderbilt is no longer undefeated after being stunned by the Mississippi State Bulldogs 17-14. The No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs bounced back with a 26-14 win over the sputtering Tennessee Volunteers. Auburn suffered its third loss in four games falling to the Arkansas Razorbacks 25-22. In a Top 15 showdown, No. 11 Florida beat No. 4 LSU 51-21.

Other Top 25 Action:
No. 14 Utah showed off their offense, beating conference rival Wyoming 40-7. The No. 9 BYU Cougars defeated New Mexico 21-3. Surprisingly ranked No. 25 team Ball State beat Western Kentucky 24-7 after being held scoreless in the first quarter. No. 15 Boise State got all of their scoring done in the second quarter beating Southern Mississippi 24-7.
