Six points from 4-0
Well, after yesterday's unfortunate finish against the Titans, the Ravens sit at 2-2, and they realize they've let two opportunities get away.
A devastating overtime loss to the Steelers on Monday night was followed by the Titans making a fourth quarter comeback to leave M&T Bank Stadium undefeated and bump Baltimore to .500.
Two close losses in six days, six points from being 4-0.
"I've never thought of it that way," Joe Flacco said of being close to undefeated, "but like I said, we let two games slip away from us. We haven't necessarily played too, too badly, but if you make mistakes, that's what'll kill you."
Flacco made a couple of them yesterday, throwing two interceptions and barely having a third overturned by a review, but he's correct in his assessment of the team to this point. They haven't played badly in their two losses, but they haven't found a way to put away their opponents either.
"Eventually we're going to have to find a way to win these games," Bart Scott said, "because it's important, and that's life in the NFL. You have to make the plays as they're supposed to be made."
It's not going to get any easier for the Ravens. Five of their next six games are on the road, and they have no mid-season bye to rest up and recover from injuries. They will play all three NFC East teams, who are a combined 14-5 this season. Things would look a whole lot sunnier if they could've scratched out at least one win in these last two.
But all is not lost. If you look at Baltimore's next five opponents, they're a combined 6-14, so the opportunity to pick up some ground on division-leading Pittsburgh is there.
This next stretch will tell a lot about this team. They've blown a couple golden chances. How they battle back will show whether they're ready to be included in the list of playoff-caliber teams.
