The injuries, the loss
| | Comments (3)

Ravens cornerback Fabian Washington has a sprained shoulder. Tackle Adam Terry has "a knee issue," according to head coach John Harbaugh, and will receive an MRI tomorrow.

Harbaugh reminded us that Joe Flacco is a young quarterback whose field vision isn't always as wide as it needs to be, which explains the interceptions and near picks. He didn't see some underneath coverage. He'll improve in that area. It just takes time.

"When I don't have anything, I've got to throw the ball away," Flacco said.

One week, he learns to protect the ball under pressure. Today, it's not forcing it into coverage near the sideline after the pocket collapses.

Harbaugh wouldn't be lured into commenting on the ridiculous roughing penalty on Terrell Suggs on the decisive drive, when the linebacker appeared to hit quarterback Kerry Collins' shoulder pad. Harbaugh's making a nice living, but he's not eager to open his checkbook and pay the fine.

"They said he went to his head," Harbaugh said.

Did he disagree with the call?

"I can't comment on those things," he replied.

Here's more from Harbaugh:

"The season is young. And our team's not about ready to back down and say, 'Hey, we're finished.' We've got a long way to go, including a tough game next week, and that's the game we're getting ready for. We'll put this one behind us fast. We're going to learn from it, we're going to get better from it. There are 100 things that we can improve on, just like if we had won the game."

Hey Roch,

I know it's early but I was wondering if a Spring Training schedule is out yet for the O's. A friend and I are looking to start planning our trip out there. If it's not out yet do you know when we could expect it to be released. Thanks

Sorry that I don't know the exact date, but you'll be wearing your winter coat and wishing you were in Fort Lauderdale. It's a few months away. - Roch

Thanks for the answer. I swear I didn't read Schmucks blog until just now. Yes, I like yours better.

MLB Playoffs

Roch - Watching the Rays vs ChiSox, and seeing Chad Bradford (whose waiver claim by the Rays helped assure the rough ending of 08 for the O's) pitching well against the sox, I wonder ... Who did we get for him? As far as I can tell - the player to be named is unnamed. Is that correct? Is it unusual for the player not to be named almost 2 months later?

Not unusual at all. Expect an announcement after the World Series. And it probably won't be anyone you've heard of. - Roch
