Exclusive: An early look at the road jersey
Whenever I think about the Orioles' old road jerseys, and it's usually during those quiet moments at home while I'm soaking in a tub with a glass of wine and the lights dimmed, I envision Boog Powell wearing that gray jersey with "Baltimore" written across the chest.
Maybe I should start over.
For whatever reason, I see Powell in short sleeves, either standing at the plate or camping under a pop up, on teams that made this city feel as though it was the center of the baseball universe. For me, he's always been synonomous with the road jerseys that disappeared after 1972. And with pennants.
Perhaps a new generation will see the 2009 model, being unveiled today at The Gallery at Harborplace, and immediately think of right fielder Nick Markakis.

Too bad this photo doesn't come with a Gold Glove.
I'll be in the MASN studio with Tom Davis beginning at noon. Tune in for live coverage of the rally if you can't make it downtown. (Rally will also be webcast live here on MASNsports.com)
I'm also joining Scott Garceau and Anita Marks at 3 p.m., which makes for a busy day. But I'm willing to risk over-exposure - even without the tub and wine.

those look sweet im deffinatly gona buy one. is it true that on sundays they will wear throwbacks
That Baltimore script is gorgeous. They nailed it.
It's about time that the Orioles decided to bring "Baltimore" back to their uniforms and it is something that the fans wanted to see so they can tell everyone that the Orioles are Baltimore and Baltimore is truly a baseball town.
Love the new duds! I'm going to get a road jersey as soon as they go on sale!
How about making this the HOME uniform as well. Let's get back to those BALTIMORE days. Please NO PIN STRIPES...
Roch...."I think it moved."
(hope you know what that quote is from)
Is there any new contract news on Nick going to be announced today?
Extremely classy and traditional. Even as a 20 year old who naturally cannot relate to the "good-ole-days" (unless we're talking about '97) I appreciate these uni's. What about the pants? Are they still having just a single black piping down the side?
WHOO-HOO! That does look so cool!
That's actually better than what I was imagining it would look like. Can't wait to see the cap too. And then, the end result of it all when the team finally dons the outfit.
All I can say is... about time, and Go Orioles!
Good job on the road jerseys! The home jerseys don't have much of a difference, aside from the patches on the sleeves.
The hat is still bad. Slight changes to the ever boring real bird. Can't they do better?
Making me proud
Now if they could get a smart strategic mgr and a ss + an Ace pitcher
perhaps we could return to the glory days!

blah! they silvered up the bird and curled his feet. great. How about signing that male model above to a contract?
Roch- You hear anything about an extension for Markakis? On espn.com, Buster Olney is reporting the O's and Nick are close to an extension.

Unfortunately, I wasn't at the rally today so I couldn't pull him aside to ask. Same with Andy MacPhail. - Roch
It seems that Angelos has finally gotten the message. We are not the D.C. Orioles, nor are we the Harrisburg, Penn. Orioles, etc.,etc.. Sportswriters who think that Baltimore on the jersey was not that important are obviously carpetbagger scribes from other hometowns who just don't get it. If you're not from Baltimore or at the least, Maryland...stay out of the discussion. Ask Yankee or Red Sox fans if they'd support removing New York or Boston from their road jerseys. DIG IT!
Roch, when I'm in the tub with a glass of wine and the lights dimmed, Boog is the last thing on my mind. You need to get out more. I thought I had it bad !!!!
Anyway, the jerseys look nice, the bird looks like he got fatter, or is it just me ?
"If you attend tomorrow's noon rally or tune into MASN for live coverage, you'll find out about another change that has club officials pretty jazzed. I'll keep that one under wraps. "
I watched the MASN coverage. I saw nothing else that would have anyone, club officials or fans jazzed up. Did I miss something?
I was hoping for a Brooks statue announcement. Or a cool new section 34 seating area, or something. I saw nothing but the uni changes you already discussed.
What was it?
DCRTV is reporting that Anita Marks is no longer with 105.7 -- is this true?

I'm sitting next to her eating lunch in the studio. We're checking the site now. - Roch
I so badly want to go order one of these, but then I imagine the team taking my $150-$200 and flushing it down the toilet, so I think I'll just pass. It will make watching their road games more enjoyable, except for the fact that they will still probably getting their heads beaten in.
Thank God!!! Bal'mer back on the roadies.... now I can sleep at night.
I'd rather hear they signed a top FA starting pitcher!
On the Anita thing.... she didn't look to happy on the Scott Garceau Show yesterday. She just glared at the master alot & said little. When she finally did, Scott G cut her off in mid question & told her they were out of time! LOL Then they let some guy reread old news items for 3 min from a sound booth.
Good Lord, that is one sexy man...any chance I can get that Markakis pic blown up into a poster?
