MASN Announces Nation's Biggest College Basketball Lineup
|

2008-2009 NCAA Basketball Schedule Features Over 200 Games and 13 conferences

Georgetown, GW, Mason, AU, Loyola, UMBC, Big East Game of the Week and the 14th Annual BB&T Classic

MASN, the local leader in live sports entertainment, will televise more college basketball games this season than any Regional Sports Network in the country. The outsize package features over 200 NCAA games including an impressive lineup of nationally-ranked teams and local favorites. The network will showcase the "Big East Game of the Week," while televising the region's best collegiate programs, like Georgetown, George Washington, and American; Loyola, UMBC, and Towson; George Mason, Richmond, and Liberty; and Davidson, UNC Charlotte, and UNC Wilmington.

MASN's college basketball season kicks off on Friday, November 14th when Loyola hosts Mount St. Mary's live at 7 p.m.

As the official network of Georgetown University basketball, MASN will air nine Hoyas games this season. John Thompson III's squad enters the season ranked 18 by the USA Today/ESPN pre-season poll. Georgetown kicks off the season on Monday, November 17th when they host Jacksonville live at 7:30 p.m. on MASN.

MASN is also the Official Cable Network of George Mason basketball and will televise seven live games. The Patriots will face several local opponents throughout the season on MASN including Towson, UNC Wilmington, Radford and Liberty. The Patriots make their first appearance of the season on MASN on Tuesday November 25th when they host Mount St. Mary's live at 7:00 p.m.

MASN is also home to the 14th annual BB&T Classic, the annual showcase of the Washington-area's best teams. The Classic tips off on Sunday, December 7th when Navy faces Virginia Tech at 5:00 p.m., and culminates with a showdown between regional favorites George Washington and Maryland at 7:30 p.m at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.

The schedule features teams from 13 different conferences including the A-10, America East, Big 12, Big East, Big South, CAA, C-USA, MAAC, MAC, NEC, Patriot, Southern and WAC.

Starting January 10th, MASN brings fans the premier Big East Game of the Week. In total, MASN will televise more than 80 Big East games with well-known and highly-ranked programs including Connecticut, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Marquette and Villanova. The Washington Post called the Big East the best conference in the NCAA, adding "right now, there is no debate."

MASN has also added 17 Big 12 games this season including games of nationally-ranked teams Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma.

In addition, MASN is the Official Cable Network of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and will air nine Seahawks games this season. MASN is pleased to again carry three live Davidson Wildcats games. Last season, fans throughout MASN's seven state territory knew about Davidson's reputation long before their emergence in the NCAA Tournament. In fact, eleven of North Carolina's best colleges and universities will play on MASN throughout the season including Western Carolina, East Carolina, UNC-Charlotte, Appalachian State, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, Coastal Carolina, Wake Forest, Elon, UNC-Asheville and High Point.

"MASN is proud to offer more college hoops than any RSN in the country," said network spokesman Todd Webster. "We will showcase the best nationally-ranked programs and important local rivalries. Whether fans want to follow basketball's brightest young stars or cheer for their alma mater, MASN is the region's home for NCAA basketball this winter."

The network will also bring fans an impressive slate of women's basketball. The schedule will feature 24 women's basketball games including local favorites like UNC-Charlotte, Navy, UMBC, American, Lehigh, Old Dominion, William and Mary, Mount St. Mary's, Georgetown, Radford and Coastal Carolina. The network will also televise the second round of the Women's Big East Tournament as well as the semifinals and finals of the Big South Tournament.
