McNabb, Westbrook "two of the best"
| | Comments (0)

The Eagles are struggling a bit right now, as evidenced by last week's tie with the lowly Bengals.

Brian Westbrook hasn't been Brian Westbrook lately, battling knee and ankle injuries that have limited him to an average of 75 total yards the last three games. In that time, he hasn't reached paydirt and clearly isn't in top form.

Donovan McNabb has been dealing with his own issues -- his comments about not knowing the Bengals game would end in a tie when the overtime period ended were splashed on newspapers and TV shows all over the country. To make matters worse for Donovan, he's coming off a game where he completed just 28-of-58 passes, turned the ball over four times and was sacked twice.

The Ravens know all this, but they're obviously not going to let down their guard. They know how talented the Eagles are, and in particular the QB-RB combo.

"We're seeing two of the best in the league this week," Terrell Suggs said. "It's definitely going to be a challenge, so let's see what happens."

Ray Lewis is friends with McNabb and the two talk often. Lewis said the two have been chatting a lot lately, not necessarily about football stuff, but that he's not sure if they'll speak prior to Sunday.

One thing he is sure of is how talented the Eagles' QB is.

"If you watch him on film, you know he's still got it," Lewis said. "I think he's having probably one of the best seasons that he's had in a while. They have a lot of weapons over there. DeSean Jackson is playing extremely well, being as young as he is. I liked him coming out of college. [Brian] Westbrook is always Westbrook, and L.J. Smith is having a great year.

"I just think he has a lot of his same weapons around him, and that's why the chemistry is the way it is."

As for Westbrook?

"It doesn't get any better," Lewis said. "Really, it doesn't get any better than him because of the type of person he is on and off the field. He's probably one of the greatest competitors that you would ever find yourself around. But you're talking about being able to do anything out of the backfield - running, catching, pass block - whatever it is. He has the ability to do all those things."

McNabb and Westbrook might not be on the top of their game coming into M&T Bank Stadium this Sunday, but they can still make some things happen. Don't think anyone on the Baltimore defense is taking this matchup lightly.
